Fragrance: All you Need to Know about its Longevity, Application and Selection

7. 11. 2025 Author: Petra Bečičková & development department

Fragrance is not only an accessory. It is a silent signature, which speaks louder than words. It can soothe our soul, influence our mood, highlight our personality and create a memory that persists. Some fragrances vanish into thin air, while others stay with us all day long. What is the secret? How can you enjoy your fragrance to the fullest?

The Magic Hidden in Concentration

The longevity of a fragrance is determined not only by its character but also by the concentration of fragrant ingredients. The higher the concentration, the longer the fragrance lasts.

  • Eau de Toilette (EdT) contains approximately 5–15 % fragrant ingredients and lasts for 3–5 hours.
  • Eau de Parfum (EdP) contains approximately 15–20 % fragrant ingredients and lasts for 6–8 hours.
  • Perfume contains 20–40 % fragrant ingredients and lasts for 8–12 hours and more.
The concentration of fragrant ingredients determines the scent's intensity and longevity.

Each concentration has its own charm. Eau de parfum or perfume highlight exceptional moments, eau de toilette is a perfect everyday choice, while body spray brings light freshness.

Tip: If you are looking for a delicate fragrance that evokes a feeling of purity, the Daisy roll-on is perfect for travel or fits easily into your handbag.

What is the difference between perfume and eau de parfum?

Perfume is often denser, richer and develops slowly. It is perfect for evening wear or during special occasions.

Eau de parfum brings a harmonious combination of intensity and lightness, so you can wear it with you any time during the day, whether to work or on exceptional occasions.

Type of Fragrance Plays a Major Role

The character of a fragrance greatly impacts its longevity. Each type evaporates at a different rate.

Citrus and fresh fragrances disappear the quickest. They have tiny, lightweight molecules that evaporate first, so these are the first notes we smell.

Floral fragrances have medium longevity. Their molecules are medium-sized, lighter flowers fade quickly, while white flowers (e.g. jasmine, gardenia) last longer.

Spicy and woody fragrances have the longest longevity. Their molecules are the biggest and they release slowly, so the fragrance develops slowly and lasts a long time.

Tip: Those who love delicate floral notes will be enchanted by Love Story Eau de Parfum. We recommend Meadow Eau de Toilette to those who prefer airy and light fragrances with a touch of meadow flowers and fruit.

The Right Application Prolongs Fragrance Longevity

Where and how we apply a fragrance critically affects its longevity and the overall impression.

Focus on your pulse points ✅

i.e. wrists, neck, décolleté and inner elbow. The warmth of your skin at these points helps the fragrance develop.

Do not rub your wrists together ❌

Rubbing disrupts the delicate top notes, accelerates evaporation and can make the scent flatter and less long-lasting.

Hydrate your skin ✅

Dry skin does not retain fragrance. Applying fragrance to hydrated skin (e.g. with body lotion or oil) ensures it lasts longer.

Practical tip: If you want to maximize the effect, try layering. For example, combine a body lotion and eau de toilette from the same collection. Then the fragrance gains depth while remaining natural. For this purpose, we recommend our Daisy or Meadow collection.

Why do we stop smelling our fragrance after a while?

You may know the feeling: you apply your fragrance, perceive it for a while and then it seems to disappear. That does not mean the scent is gone. Quite the opposite. It is a natural phenomenon called olfactory adaptation.

Our brain simply gets used to the fragrance that it constantly perceives and stops actively noticing it. But the people around us can still smell it. That may be a sign that you have found the right harmonious fragrance that has become a natural extension of you.

Our nose adapts to the scent, but people around us can still smell it.

Tip: If you feel that your favourite fragrance quickly “disappears”, try to take a moment and ask someone nearby. You may be surprised that it is still noticeable to others.

Fragrances for Every Occasion

Every moment calls for a different mood – and a different fragrance. What feels perfect for the office may not be ideal for an evening date, and vice versa. The right scent can complement your personality and the atmosphere of your day.

For work and everyday moments

For work and everyday moments

Choose light, clean, and optimistic fragrances that feel fresh yet subtle. Soft floral or citrus tones work beautifully – for example, Daisy, Apricot, or Morning Meadow, which evoke feelings of comfort and energy.

For leisure and travel

Fresh, natural, and playful compositions are perfect companions for relaxed days. SOOO Fresh with cucumber, grapefruit, and green apple notes, or Prague Memories with the scent of blooming linden, will brighten your journey – whether in your backpack or handbag.

For parties, celebrations, or exceptional events, choose more intense and sophisticated fragrances – such as Eau de Parfum. Their rich composition ensures you’ll be unforgettable all evening.

How to find your perfect match?

Selecting a fragrance is a deeply personal experience. One of the subtle signs is that you eventually stop perceiving it. This often means that the fragrance is your perfect match.

Fragrance is like a story. It has its top, heart and base notes. The top notes emerge gently, then the fragrance develops and finally the base notes complete the scent, providing it with depth.

When trying a fragrance, take your time. Apply the fragrance to your skin and observe how it develops over the course of a few hours.

Tip: Try various collections, e.g. the fresh SOOO Fresh eau de parfum with notes of cucumber, grapefruit and green apple, Apricot eau de toilette with its sparkling fruit fragrance, sensual Prague memories or elegant and feminine Morning Meadow eau de parfum - and observe which of them is your match.

Fragrance as You Signature

Fragrance is more than a cosmetic product. It is a personal way to express your mood, style and personality. Whether you prefer fresh, floral or woody notes, it is important that the scent feels natural and pleasant.

Choosing the ideal fragrance is a personal matter, so take your time and observe how the scent develops. Find a fragrance that suits you so well you barely perceive it. Maybe that is precisely why it is the perfect one for you.❤
