Manufaktura is famous mainly for its cosmetic brand sold in its own Manufaktura Your Home Spa shop network, which you can find mostly in shopping malls throughout the whole Czech Republic and Slovakia. However, Manufaktura takes pride in another concept of shops: Manufaktura Original Czech Tradition shop network spreading in the historic centre of Prague. The shops situated in splendid lanes of Prague´s Old Town, i. e. the Royal Route area, and sales premises located in unique houses, where the history still lives, invite you to pleasant visit. Besides true cosmetics you can buy primarily Czech traditional and exceptional handicraft products and toys in Manufaktura Original Czech Tradition shops.
How it all started
It was 1991. Prague was newly open to foreigners from the whole world but there were barely any shops where they could buy typical Czech souvenirs.
The idea therefore emerged of using beautiful premises in the historic centre of Prague and offering tourists the best of our country´s toy and craft tradition, which was facing extinction at that time. So, we set off to Czech and Moravian countryside and bought all kinds of things from local craftsmen, i.e. products ranging from traditional corn husk dolls, hand painted Easter eggs to wooden toys.
We discovered an amazing place in the premises of a former laundry of the Dominican Monastery in Jilská street, we embellished it with original historicizing decorations from antique vintage shops and our first shop saw the light of day.
Only several days later we were pleased to see that tourists found traditional Czech products representing our culture exceptionally attractive. It was not too long before we opened other shops in the heart of old Prague.
Ing. Arch. Karel Němeček himself, the owner, is the author of architectural solutions of our shops since establishment of Manufaktura in 1991. He designs every shop and he personally and actively takes part in creation of new sales premises.

Original vintage decorative objects, which we “recycle” from old things and thus breathe life into them, dominate resourceful interiors. In our shops you find ancient restored wooden tables, workbenches, washboards, washing machines, boilers and other beautiful authentic historical artifacts that do not have to fade into the abyss of history. Czechness, Tradition, Quality
We gradually managed to bring together more than 250 small-scale craftspeople, former folklore masters, tradition bearers and small Czech companies whose products we have been selling to this day.
By means of finding a ready market and coopering in development, design and protection of their products we help maintain unique crafting techniques, which otherwise would face extinction nowadays. Our shops have become a unique platform for presentation of our traditional handicrafts on a pan-European scale.
We have been collaborating with the Ministry of Culture so far and we are respected by important expert authorities.
