How did we develop the warming balm with lavender, arnica montana and hemp?

The warming massage cream with lavender, arnica montana, comfrey and now also hemp oil connects tried and tested herbal extracts with modern active substances. It provides stressed areas, such as the nape, back, joints and legs, with ideal care, promotes pleasant warming, well-being and overall comfort during massage. Thanks to gentle aromatherapy fragrance of lavender it brings also a sensual experience, to which you will be looking forward.

We talked with Eva Feldeková, PhD, our creative development specialist, about development of this new product and about why it is exceptional.

Why is this news exceptional in comparison with other massage creams or balms?

It is a product that connects effectiveness and a sensual experience with maximum consideration. Unlike other available petroleum-based massage creams, we work purely with a plant base — hemp, macadamia, almond and oat oil and shea butter create a gentle but nourishing foundation.

The warming effect is finely tuned, i.e. pleasant, long-lasting and non-violent. And for sure, the product has local origin, it is made in Czechia in small batches with accent on high quality and details. The connection of aromatherapy, herbs, minerals and modern active substances create a whole that takes care of body and inner peace.

Who is the warming cream with hemp primarily intended to?

Actually, this cream is for anyone who feels that their body needs care, calm or stimulation. 

Mainly people who are active, i.e. play sports, go hiking and run, or spend hours in front of their computers and feel tension in their back or nape, get it. It works very well as an evening relaxation ritual when you need to soothe your body and mind.

Even elderly people seeking slightly warming natural care, which is gentle, not sticky but well absorbable, appreciate it. Due to the combination of herbs and aromatherapy, it positively influences senses, so people who look forward to a moment of peace after a hard day, love it as well. It is intended only for women or men - its scent is harmonious, unisex, and in general, this product easily becomes a part of your home care every day.

It is the first product of our brand with hemp oil. Why did you decide to include this ingredient and what are its benefits? 

Hemp oil is a really exceptional ingredient. It contains essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins, moreover, it is light, easily absorbable and supports the natural skin barrier. However, another thing was crucial for us: strong and long-term demand from our customers. People repeatedly asked about hemp products, they shared positive experience, came up with recommendations... And we listened to them.

The warming massage cream proved to be an ideal form of the connection of arnica montana, comfrey and lavender. A synergistic blend of effective substances that pleases senses was developed.

Besides hemp, the formula exploits also arnica montana, comfrey and lavender. What effect do these traditional herbs, which our grandmothers used, have? 

We chose these herbs with respect for old formulae, but at the same time we thought about how to connect it with a modern approach. Arnica montana is known for its regenerative effects and works great after physical strain – it warms up, stimulates blood circulation and releases muscles. Comfrey is exceptional for alantoin, which helps restore skin balance, so it is great for soothing stressed body areas in the evening.

And lavender… we included it in the formula not only for its amazing fragrance but also due to aromatherapy effects. It helps induce a feeling of calm, release tension. In connection with heat during massage, its fragrance spreads and deepens the overall experience. These three herbs create together synergy, which has a functional and very pleasant sensual effect.

How does the functional warming effect work and why did you choose the modern substance Vanillyl Butyl Ether?

We wanted to create a cream, which will be both effective and pleasant to apply. The warming effect cannot be aggressive, burning or irritating – that is not what you would put on your painful back in the evening. 

For that reason, we chose Vanillyl Butyl Ether with a gradual, gentle and long-lasting effect. It activates thermoreceptors in our skin, induces the sense of warmth, but without stinging or burning. At the same time, it is a stable substance with a light vanilla hint, which is warming and creamy. 

Due to decent fragrance, it does not disrupt the aromatherapy profile of lavender and herbs and works in harmony with them. It provides a pleasant warming effect without irritation, which both skin and senses appreciate.

One more reason – for a long time we heard from our customers that they wished a stronger and more “massage” product with a warming effect. Vanillyl Butyl Ether allowed it safely, functionally and with maximum comfort.

What role does lavender play from in terms of the overall experience with application?

Lavender is not included only “for its scent”, but it is a soul of the product. Tender aromatherapy fragrance, which helps release muscles, slow down and calm your mind, spreads with every application. The scent influences the limbic system, which is a centre of emotions that connects body and mind in a harmonious entity.

Due to the warming effect, the fragrance blooms and boosts the overall relaxation ritual. Lavender in our warming balm is a bearer of the sense of inner balance. The aromatherapy effect brings care with a continuing effect influencing not only body and mind but also turning common massage into a relaxing ritual.

Does the product fit into the philosophy of your brand, e.g. in terms of use of local ingredients or vegan formulation? 

This product connects the past and the present. It exploits traditional herbs known from Czech nature - arnica montana, comfrey, lavender, with modern, safe and effective active substances.

The formulation is suitable for vegans, without any animal substances. We use lavender from Pálava, hand-picked with respect for countryside, and Carlsbad thermals spring salt as a valuable mineral element. We created a product that not only responses to the wishes of our customers but also honours the wisdom of previous generations.

If you should compare this product to a man - who would it be? A strong trainer, a gentle physiotherapist or a herbalist with open arms? 

I think that it would be a silent companion with warm palms and a soft voice who comes when it is necessary to slow down, take a breath and let the worries flow. It would understand the body as an experienced therapist with the trainer's strength that can cheer you up, and at the same time bears the wisdom of our grandmothers. Its heart would beat in the rhythm of Czech nature. It would be a man who connects traditions, care, nature, science and a touch with confidence.
